Also, I could actually see on a map where my work friend was. Life360 gives colleagues a quick and easy way to connect and communicate, either individually or to the larger group.Location isn’t always necessary with work-friends, so it’s easy to toggle off when not needed. It would be useful if you needed to find each other in a big venue (like I’d use it with my Family Circle when we are at the mall or a warehouse store.) Catch up quickly in a cavernous convention center!I’d feel secure using Life360 as a messaging service because they assure their <q>maps and chat channels are built with bank-level security.</q> Also, because it’s not through email or a messaging app that contains all your contacts, it won’t be accidentally forwarded when someone hits <q>Reply All.</q> Because that happens.Thinking about how Life360 can keep you connected to other groups besides the people who live in your house opens up a world of possibilities. My daughter walks our neighbor’s dog. If the neighbor made a circle that just included just her and my daughter, she could get alerted on when my daughter arrives at the house, departs with the dog, and later returns. After dropping the dog off, my daughter can toggle off the tracking.This would work great with a sitter or other caregiver, especially if they are driving your children anywhere. You could track them safely home from the afternoon school run, especially if your kids are too young to have their own cell phones.If you have parents who are getting older and need a little more assistance, upgrading them to a Premium account not only keeps you connected though location tracking and messaging, but also it provides them with a 24/7 Live Advisor.With the push of a button, they get connected to a real live person who can provide crisis care, dispatching help for a medical emergency or a car problem. Also, the advisor will know info provided to the app, like name and family members to contact, and their exact location! The last time we had a car breakdown, it took hours for the tow truck to find us. Now, they can be guided with exact location information.Life360 is one of the most useful apps on my phone. Now it can not only keep you connected with the people who live in your house, it can also make things easier in every area of your life.

If the app isn’t used for a certain amount of time, the OS will <q>kill</q> the app, which keeps it from running on your device. When this happens, it will stop geofences and locations from updating, so it shows that a user can’t be located. So please make sure you bring Life360 to the foreground every now and then to show your phone it’s something you want!</li><li>The option to turn <q>Background Refresh</q> off and on will cause the app not to locate. To make sure Background Refresh is turned ON for Life360, go to Settings &gt; General &gt; Background App Refresh &gt; Make sure that’s ON and also scroll down to be sure it’s authorized for Life360. (This is in addition to having Location Services active, which you turn on in Settings &gt; Privacy &gt; Location Services)</li><li>If you close the app completely from the task bar, your location will no longer update for other family members. We understand that many users like to close things that they aren’t actively using to try and save battery, but if you close Life360 completely, we won’t be able to locate you.</li></ol>Our team is working hard to create better messaging and notifications for why Life360 may not be working for iOS7 users, and is also determining whether or not there are things we can do on the app side to address the concerns. His primary focus is on setting the direction for the Life360 product, and he is joining us today to give our users some insight into how Life360 makes decisions, and more importantly, when to expect new features in the app.If you’ve spent any time using Life360, you’ve probably come across some reference to our number of users, which at the time of this post, is over 30 million. That means we are one of the biggest mobile apps in the world, which is something the team and I are exceptionally proud of. You might think this means we are also a big company, but in fact, we are quite small – the entire team is less than 30 full time employees. A year ago, it was just 10.This unfortunately means that a lot of great ideas – many of which came from users like you – aren’t brought into the app as quickly as we would like. This frustrates me to no end, and I’m spending a huge amount of my time raising money for the company so we can hire more engineers and get features out faster. But, that takes time, and for now, it means we can only work on a few projects at a time.So how do we prioritize projects at Life360? Basically, it goes something like this:<ol><li>Fix things that are broken</li><li>Refine and enhance existing features</li><li>Add new stuff</li></ol>Going on this model, I’d like to share with you some of the big things we have in the pipeline:On the <q>fix things that are broken</q> front, we have realized that a lot of our most loyal users are getting frustrated with us that they can only have one family account. This was initially by design, since we don’t want to become an app for friends, but we have realized there is something of a middle ground that will let you link Life360 to people close to you who are outside of your core nuclear family. Expect to see what we are calling <q>Circles</q> live by this summer – you’ll be able to create groups with their own sharing settings for people outside of your core nuclear family.Moving on to <q>refine and enhance existing features,</q> we realize that our family messaging system is very barebones. It doesn’t allow one-to-one messaging, you can’t upload pictures, and it doesn’t do a good job of threading conversations. We think this could and should be a complete SMS replacement for your family, but it isn’t there yet. Expect to see messaging get a lot better over the next few months.Lastly, let’s look at <q>add new stuff</q>. We have TONS of things on our wish list, and it is very hard to decide what features should get priority. Here are some examples (in no particular order):<ul><li>Build a version of Life360 that runs in your car</li><li>Add location aware to-do lists</li><li>Build apps for tablets, Windows Phones, and other mobile platforms</li><li>Link to family calendars</li><li>Offer a physical GPS device (for locating users who don’t carry phones)</li><li>Plus about 100 other things that wouldn’t fit here</li></ul>One of the most requested features on this wish is a Windows version of the app. It is something I wish we would have had by now, but unfortunately, it is a project that we haven’t been properly able to commit to. As our user base has grown, many of the engineers who would have been building the Windows app have had to shift their focus to just keeping the system up and running. Given all these other things we need to do, I’m not able to tell you definitively when the Windows app will be ready, but if I had to guess it won’t be until late this year. To all the Windows Phone users out there, please believe me when I say this frustrates me just as much as you! We are working on hiring engineers as quickly as possible, and we have even reached out to Microsoft to see if they can offer us some special support. If you want to help us with this, please send a note directly to our community manager <a href='mailto:lizz@life360'>Lizz</a> telling her how much you want Life360 on your Windows Phone, and we’ll send it to the Microsoft team to as part of our pitch to get their help.We really do value the input of users like you, and most of our priorities are directly driven from your feedback. Not quite. These are just a small sample of the oddest items left in Ubers.<a href='/' target='_self'>Tile</a> referenced <a href='https://www.uber.com/newsroom/the-2024-uber-lost-found-index/' target='_blank' title='Opens in a new tab'>Uber&#39;s Lost &amp; Found Index</a> to identify the most common items left behind in Ubers—and showcase some of the stranger items people left behind. The report covers Uber&#39;s lost item data from April 2023 to March 2024.The top 10 most-forgotten items list comes as no surprise to frequent ride-hailers. In order, passengers left: clothing, luggage, headphones, wallets, jewelry, phones, cameras, tablets or books, laptops, and vapes.A few of these items—phones, jewelry, wallets, and headphones—were also among the items that Americans reported losing most often, according to <a href='https://www.shaneco.com/theloupe/articles-and-news/stuff-each-state-loses-the-most/' target='_blank' title='Opens in a new tab'>a survey of over 2,000 Americans</a> published by Shane Co. But others, such as clothing, luggage, and cameras, speak more to the nature of ride-hailing.Uber rides are often associated with nights out drinking—a kind of built-in designated driver. In Colorado, a pair of researchers became ride-hail drivers to survey their passengers on the reasons they called a ride and found that <a href='https://web.archive.org/web/20190713110622/https://www.jtlu.org/index.php/jtlu/article/view/1392/1227' target='_blank' title='Opens in a new tab'>nearly half were going out and/or drinking</a>. Alcohol and fatigue are both known to muddy the mind, making it difficult to think clearly, and in turn increasing the odds of passengers leaving something behind.Limit belongings and create a checklist to avoid losing items during a night out. Also consider creating a mental or physical list of things to double-check before departing their ride.What&#39;s more, the most common times people reported forgetting items in an Uber were at night, with 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. taking the lead. In a dark car, quickly running a flashlight over the seats and floors can help minimize the chances of leaving something behind. This is particularly useful for those who might want to use the flashlight on the phone they thought was in their pocket (see the aforementioned top 10 list.)Many ride-hail passengers are also in the midst of travel. According to Uber&#39;s Q1 2024 report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, about 15% of the company&#39;s rides start from or end at an airport, which can be stressful to navigate and can split travelers&#39; focus, potentially causing them to leave their luggage or other travel necessities behind in the shuffle. Frazzled travelers should take deep breaths and try to calm their nerves for a moment before exiting their cars to ensure they don&#39;t leave their jackets, luggage, or anything else behind.Despite taking every precaution, it&#39;s likely that passengers will continue to forget their belongings. For those who find themselves in this situation, know that items can be retrieved by calling or otherwise contacting drivers through the app, and then scheduling a meetup to get these precious objects back, if found. Uber and other ride-hailing service drivers are not responsible for lost items, and their return is not guaranteed.Returns will cost passengers, however. Uber and Lyft each charge a $20 return fee to compensate the driver for their time. At Uber, this policy was put into place in 2017, before which time drivers returned an average of 11 lost items per year and earned nothing for it.<h2>Beyond the Ordinary: Odd Items Forgotten in Ubers</h2>Nevertheless, items abandoned in Ubers are not all typical phones and vapes that slipped out of pockets. Some objects hint at fantastic adventures, comical journeys, and even a few surprising twists.
